Weaving the Pieces Together
@ Abbott Hall
710 N Lake Shore Dr, Chicago, IL 60611
Opening Tuesday, June 4th, from 6:30PM - 9PM
The project is split into two parts, the Weaving the Pieces Together documentary and then a set performance. It is a surprise theatrical performance which follows the themes in the film such as race, class, identity, gender and grief.
The film is about Brooklyn-based artist Beyonce Armstrong’s first-hand encounter with gentrification in her community, Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn. When she first became aware of the changes in her community, it started in the mid-2010s, seeing a shift in her community’s demographic. Brooklyn has shaped her identity because it is the only place she and her family share memories and a spot they built for generations. Ironically, through her artistry, she is preserving the culture she knew Bed-stuy to be.
The show will be on June 4th, 2024 from 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm at The Abbott Hall Building!!!
