About the Event
Join us for a conversation with artist Beatriz Santiago Muñoz, who discusses her politically poignant films and videos that use enactment, improvisation, and sensorial approaches to a history that we otherwise have no complex access to. Santiago Muñoz’s work is currently on view as part of entre horizontes: Art and Activism Between Chicago and Puerto Rico.

ASL, CART, and Spanish language captioning and audio are provided.

About the Speaker
Beatriz Santiago Muñoz is an artist whose expanded moving image work is entangled with Boalian theater, expanded cinema, and feminist practices. She tends to work with non-actors and incorporate improvisation into her process. Her recent work is on the sensorial unconscious of anti-colonial movements and feminist experiments with language and narrative. Recent solo exhibitions include Rodarán cabezas, Espacio Odeón, Bogotá; Gosila, Der Tank, Basel; and Nuevos Materiales, Museo Amparo. Her work is part of public and private collections including the Museum of Modern Art, Kadist, and the Guggenheim, among others.
