Leonardo da Vinci stared at walls. He recommended it to his fellow artists. In his “Advice to Artists” he proposed studying the stains on walls, the embers of a dying fire, the patterns of clouds, and there they would see images of various landscapes beautified with mountains, rivers, rocks, trees, plains, wide valleys and hills; or the images of battles, with figures in action; or strange faces and costumes.

George Zaremba is a 70-year-old Chicago artist who recently completed his inaugural mural—a touching tribute to veterans. For this new exhibition, Zaremba created work using an iPad to meticulously place every pixel.

“Leonardo’s Wall” redefines the intersections between art, technology, and tradition.
