🎥 Lights, Camera, Action! 🌟
Join us for the “Cariño Festival de Cine,” a celebration of young emerging filmmakers’ cinematic talents. This festival provides a platform for artists aged 13 to 26 to share their unique perspectives on themselves, their communities, and the world through film.

🌟 Honoring Zedrick “Cariño” Alfredo Aurelio:
In memory of Zedrick “Cariño” Alfredo Aurelio, who passed away a few years back due to a prolonged battle with cancer, this festival pays tribute to his legacy. Cariño had the remarkable ability to bring joy to almost anyone he met as well as being able to bring them together harmoniously. He was a true mentor, brother, and friend. In collaboration with OPEN Center for the Arts, his brother, Andres Aurelio, and friend, Salvador Salazar, have created this festival to embrace his spirit and showcase the exceptional talents of young emerging filmmakers from Chicago.

Rising Star
Our esteemed panel of judges and audience votes will determine the winners, with the awards ceremony taking place during the festival.

🌟 Special Highlight:
This year, OPEN Center for the Arts is proud to present the second annual “Cariño Festival de Cine” on October 14th from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM at @opencenterforthearts. 10 outstanding films created by youth from across Chicago have been selected to be part of the festival, with six prizes to be awarded for distinction.
