About the artists:

Honestly Same is an amplified acoustic and synthetic quintet that improvises patient and contemplative music. The sound worlds breathe, loop, iterate, layer. Honestly Same finds inspiration in insect and frog calls, resonant harmonies, and the blue light of a neighbor’s TV. Honestly Same is Mabel Kwan, Sam Scranton, Lia Kohl, Zachary Good, and Zach Moore.

Ishmael Ali is a dynamic cellist, guitarist, improviser, and composer based out of Chicago. His work centers on exploring sound through improvisation, experimentation, composition, and collaboration, focusing on a wide array of idiomatic approaches in an ever-changing, always-growing list of projects informed by diverse influences.

Jasmine Lupe Mendoza is a performance artist, choreographer, and activist based in Chicago. Their practice is informed by improvisation, sound, installation, and video. Jasmine’s work has been presented in Chicago, New Mexico, and New Orleans, and they have held residences at the Banff Centre, Links Hall, The Arts Club of Chicago, Acre, and MoMAZoZo.

Nick Meryhew is an experimental musician, arts educator, improviser, and armchair geologist. Their work explores ideas of assemblage, hybridity, and nonhierarchy through a sculptural approach to found sound. They currently perform with Paradise Complete, Tallulah Bankheist, NASDAQUIRI, and with a variety of Chicago improvisers.
