Shannon Bool (Canada, b. 1972, lives and works in Berlin, Germany) is renowned for her unconventional use of materials in works that upend authoritative histories by blending elements of art history and pop-
ular culture. In this exhibition, Bool presents photo-based tapestries, photograms, and
sculptures that probe the history of modernist architecture, revealing aspects of patriarchal standards and colonialism that underly the legacies of some of architecture’s famous practitioners.

The MoCP is supported by Columbia College Chicago, the MoCP Advisory Board, the Museum Council, individuals, and private and corporate foundations. The 2022-2023 exhibition season is sponsored in part by the Phillip and Edith Leonian Foundation, the Pritzker Traubert Foundation, the Efroymson Family Fund, the Henry Nias Foundation, and the Illinois Arts Council Agency.

Shannon Bool 1:1 has been generously supported through the David C. and Sarajean Ruttenberg Impact Fund for Photography. Select programs have been organized in partnership with the Chicago Architecture Biennial.
