@ DePaul Art Museum
935 W Fullerton Ave, Chicago, IL 60614
Opening Thursday, September 30th, at 6PM
Join us to celebrate the catalogue published on the occasion of the exhibition Stockyard Institute: 25 Years of Art and Radical Pedagogy. This fully-illustrated catalogue provides rich documentation and scholarship on the work of pioneering social practice artist Jim Duignan and his ongoing community arts platform Stockyard Institute. With contributions by Jennifer Gray, Rachel L. S. Harper, Jorge Lucero, David Maruzzella, Allison Peters Quinn, Nato Thompson, and Julie Rodrigues Widholm.
Duignan will be joined by former student and key collaborator Lavie Raven for a conversation about the past, present, and future of Stockyard Institute. A public school teacher for over 20 years, Raven is a Fulbright Distinguished Teacher, artist, activist, and co-founder of the University of Hip-Hop, a multi-disciplinary school of the street arts.
