In preparation for the exhibition Malangatana: Mozambique Modern, an Art Institute conservator traveled to Maputo, Mozambique, to prepare and oversee the packing of 10 paintings and 24 drawings for shipment to the Art Institute of Chicago. Join museum conservators for insights into this complex and fascinating process.
The Art Institute is the first major museum in the United States to host a solo exhibition devoted to Malangatana Ngwenya (1936–2011), one of the founders of modern African art and the preeminent artist of Mozambique.
Closed captioning will be available for this program. For questions related to accessibility accommodations, please email access@artic.edu.
