A Conversation with Timuel D. Black Jr
@ South Side Community Art Center
3831 S Michigan Ave, Chicago, IL 60653
Opening Wednesday, February 26th, from 3PM - 5:30PM
Landmarks Illinois invites you to a special Black History Month event at the South Side Community Art Center featuring noted civil rights leader, educator, historian, author and WWI veteran Timuel D. Black Jr.
The event features a discussion with Mr. Black, 101, about his powerful memoir “Sacred Ground: The Chicago Streets of Timuel Black,” as well as a reception where guests will have the opportunity to meet the author and have their books signed. Advanced purchase of the book is recommended.
Mr. Black has devoted his life to promoting Black History on Chicago’s South Side — where he arrived with his family in 1919 just weeks after the Chicago race riot – and has been a devoted advocate for social justice causes. Landmarks Illinois is proud to honor him at the upcoming 2020 Legendary Landmarks Celebration on March 5 in Chicago. Learn more about Mr. Black and other 2020 Legendary Landmarks here.
Please join us at this rare event with Mr. Black!
