Oct 22nd 2019

In recognition of #BlackGirlMagic and the continued need to heighten visibility of women of color in museums, three black women artists whose work has recently been acquired by the Art Institute—Bisa Butler, Tschabalala Self, and Amanda Williams—discuss their individual work, the collective work of their fellow women of color, and why indeed #BlackGirlsAreMagic. Chicago journalist, media executive, and public speaker Kyra Kyles hosts the conversation, and poet Rachel “Raych” Jackson reads a Toni Morrison essay to open the program.

A reception immediately follows in Griffin Court (ages 21+.)
