The Shifting Body will display work by Janet Lopez (BFA 2019), a native Chicagoan hailing from the city’s Southwest Side. The exhibition tackles the dual identity of the shifting body and its ability to seamlessly maneuver in and out of marginalized and institutional spaces. Through the politics of Spanglish, Chicanx ska-punk performance, nostalgia and collected trash this exhibition manifests the complexities of identity and cultural crossings.
