George Washington is considered one of the distinct works of contemporary American independent cinema.

Its story occurs over the course of a hot summer in a decaying, rural town in North Carolina. After an unexpected tragedy, a band of children must confront a tangle of difficult choices. Known for its meditative realism and unique reflection on adolescence, this first full-length film by director David Gordon Green also features remarkable, first – time performances from an award-winning ensemble cast.
