Opening Sunday, June 3rd, from 2PM - 5PM
On view through Saturday, July 7th
Join us on Sunday, June 3rd for an afternoon with our current exhibiting artist, Brian Dovie Golden. Brian will be sketching portraits inspired by the illustrated characters that fill his sketchbooks and that you see in his piece entitled “The Company you Keep”. Visitors will be able to check out “Silver Lining”, meet the artist, and purchase a live sketch inspired by you or your story! This is a chance for you to engage with the artist in something more intimate than your typical gallery reception AND….you may go home with a unique piece of art! Light refreshments will be served.
“Silver Lining” runs through July 7th.
Using primarily watercolor, Golden has been exploring this medium for the past several years, perfecting it to portray the beautiful subtleties of skin and texture in portraiture. Silver Lining is a culmination of portraits and illustrated figures that give physical shape to the joyful highs and woeful lows of our existence. Both the inspiration for the series and the interpretation are very personal to the artist, but the resulting work is relatable to all who have struggled and triumphed in life. The combination of the sketchbook inspired figure drawings and the photorealistic painted portraits are unique to the artist and speak to his ability to bring something fresh to the contemporary art scene. Giving a nod to both pop art and photorealism, Golden is an artist who creates from the heart first and foremost, creating his own unique signature style in the process.
