GOLDFINCH is pleased to announce its inaugural Flatfiles Exhibition, a gallery-wide presentation of our entire Flatfiles inventory. The opening reception is Sunday, December 10 from 3-6pm, and the show will be on view through Friday, December 22nd. You can preview works in the exhibition by visiting our website – additional pieces will be added for the gallery show. Everything in the exhibition is available to take home right away, so if you’re on the lookout for a unique holiday gift, come visit!
Over the past few months, Goldfinch’s flatfiles have been filled with over 100 works by a wide range of emerging, mid-career, and established artists, most of them Chicago-based. From Kevin Blake’s vivid oil pastiches to Dianna Frid’s embroidered textile collage pieces, this exhibition offers the unique opportunity to view and acquire an array of process-driven, conceptually rich works by a diverse roster of artists. While many of the works are representative of an artist’s core practice, others demonstrate the flexibility, freedom, and play that smaller-scale formats invite.
Taking inspiration from Pierogi Gallery’s famed Flat Files, Goldfinch’s Flatfiles program aims to make original contemporary artworks available to a wider audience. The program encompasses painting, drawing, collage, prints, photographs, mixed media pieces and any other works that can be housed in our files. The vast majority are priced at $1500 or below, and many can be acquired for less than $500. After the exhibition closes, Flatfiles works can be viewed during our open hours (Fridays and Saturdays 12-4pm when exhibitions are on view) and we are always happy to arrange alternative viewing appointments at your convenience.
Flatfiles artists include: Kevin Blake, Stella Brown, Diane Christiansen, Bill Conger, Veronica Corzo-Duchardt, Mari Eastman, Dianna Frid, Diana Gabriel, Azadeh Gholizadeh, Daniel Hojnacki, Spencer Hutchinson, James Jankowiak, Jaclyn Jacunkski, Kate McQuillen, Nazafarin Lotfi, Victoria Martinez, Jordan Martins, Mia + Maire (Sad Girls Club), Monika Müller, Sherwin Ovid, Kaveri Raina, Edra Soto, Tina Tahir and more!
