65GRAND is pleased to present What It Is We’re Measuring an exhibition of sculptures by Heather Mekkelson. This is Mekkelson’s second exhibition with the gallery.
Heather Mekkelson is a multidisciplinary artist working primarily in sculpture and installation. Born in New York, raised in dozens of East Coast, Mid-Atlantic, and Midwestern locations, she is currently based in Chicago. Mekkelson earned her MFA at the University of Illinois at Chicago in 2008 and her BFA from The School of The Art Institute of Chicago in 1999. She has had several solo exhibitions in Chicago galleries, most recently at Fourth Ward Project Space in 2017 and 65GRAND in 2014. Her work has been exhibited in group shows in galleries and institutions nationally since 2001. Mekkelson’s work has been featured in Art Journal, Art21 Magazine, Artforum.com, Artnet, Flavorpill, Hyperallergic, Newcity, and Time Out Chicago.
