Special program—multimedia concert at 7pm and 8:30pm featuring a watercolor animation by Anne Beal accompanied by a nine-piece jazz orchestra performance with music composed by Christopher Zuar.
Throughout the evening, we will showcase the work of 12 artists, studios and institutions on 150 Media Stream. Since each contributor’s work is featured on a monthly basis throughout the year, this will be the only opportunity to see all the media stream artists’ work in one evening.
Two twenty-minute performances of the evening will showcase the collaborative work of Anne Beal (animation artist) and Christopher Zuar (composer). Entitled “Tonal Conversations”, the piece is comprised of thousands of colorful images that Anne created while listening to Christopher compose music on the piano. The ongoing collaborative project will debut on the 150 Media Stream featuring Christopher Zuar’s nine-piece jazz orchestra.
150 Media Stream is one of the largest public multimedia art installations in Chicago, with 89 LED blades stretching 150 feet long and rising 22 feet. As the only structure of its kind, 150 Media Stream showcases commissioned works by innovative media artists from Chicago, their interpretations of the city’s culture and history, as well as a diverse assembly of world-renowned and emerging artists from throughout the world.
