The City That Speaks: Chicago for Change

@ 5th Floor Gallery

400 S Peoria St, 5th Floor, Chicago, IL 60607

Opening Monday, October 15th, from 11AM - 3PM

On view through Tuesday, October 30th

The City That Speaks: Chicago for Change exhibition examines the rich history of social justice efforts in Chicago, highlighting key activists, organizers, and movements that relate to the news today. Those featured in the exhibition are vitally important to social justice efforts, including the labor movement, racial justice, and human rights. This exhibition was developed by a group of UIC’s Museum and Exhibition Studies (MUSE) students who have spent the last year studying how elements of social justice can (and should) be incorporated into museums, galleries, and cultural institutions.

The exhibition will be open in the brand new 5th Floor Gallery in the 400 S Peoria St building on UIC’s campus. Open Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 11-3PM, the exhibition is the first in a series of exhibitions put on by MUSE. Extended hours will be available from 5-8PM on Friday September 14th to coincide with the opening of Gallery 400’s new exhibition.

This exhibition is free, open to the public, and accessible via the elevator on the first floor of the building.
