René Romero Schuler: In Search of Ground
@ Zolla/Lieberman Gallery
325 W Huron St, Chicago, IL 60654
Opening Friday, September 7th, from 5PM - 8PM
On view through Saturday, October 20th
Zolla/Lieberman Gallery is pleased to announce the opening of “In Search of Ground”, a solo exhibition by René Romero Schuler.
Once again, René is exhibiting in her hometown, Chicago, where her previous shows have all sold out and the openings have drawn standing only crowds. This will be René’s second exhibition at ZLG and a first featuring works in multiple disciplines. The main gallery will exhibit original oils on canvas, the south gallery will present framed India ink drawings, and the office gallery will feature gilded works and a collaborative effort with Ari Smejkal of mixed media sculptures.
“’In Search of Ground’ has emerged as a body of work that has given me solace through pain, strength through grief, and peace through turmoil. Each piece is an ultimate gift, in that it has allowed me a method…a time…a space, to process and let go,” said René.
“In Search of Ground” will continue Rene’s exploration into painting as catharsis. The finished pieces are images of fortitude and vulnerability that speak directly to the human condition. The complex emotions of love, sorrow, solitude, and heartbreak are difficult but familiar to us all. This primordial connection ultimately inspires hope to persevere. Share a night surrounded by inspiring artwork, incredible minds, and creative discussion.
