We’re happy to announce that the storefront space at 3242 W Armitage will continue to house artists’ studios and to show their work. All proceeds from this farewell event will go toward ensuring the physical space is in safe/great shape for the artists we’re handing our beloved storefront off to. (Reinforcing weak points in the floor, repairs, a deep clean, and settling up final utility bills.) A lot of you—artists, friends, community members—have spent a lot of time with us at Hume. This bittersweet celebration is for you, too. Please send any favorite Hume memories, pictures, whatever to humegallery@gmail.com and we’ll include them in the celebration ♥

About the space:
For the past three and a half years Hume Chicago has been an artist-led, volunteer-run project space focused on creating space for, providing resources to, and elevating other emerging & traditionally underrepresented artists. Hume aims to serve the Humboldt Park and Logan Square communities through dynamic, accessible arts programming. We strive to foster an inclusive, creative environment in which emerging Chicago artists and their neighbors can commune and engage.
Hume maintained an open call for month-long exhibitions, workshops, and other creative projects proposed by emerging artists traditionally underrepresented in commercial galleries.
Thanks to generous community donations, our street-level exhibition and studio space is wheelchair accessible. Our bathroom is narrow and up a small step, and our basement space, Dog Leach, can only be accessed by a steep flight of stairs.
