Anthology Exhibit Explores An Artist’s Creative Lineage
ORBIT is pleased to announce our forthcoming group exhibition of work by Chicago artist, Robin Dluzen and members of her immediate and extended family. The opening reception will take place on Saturday, June 9 from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. at ORBIT, 1350 W. Erie Street. Viewers will be able to explore the aesthetic connection between the artist and her family members as well as the variety of medium and their historical, ecological and cultural expressions.

“I’ve been making artwork about my family for more than a decade, and over the years, my immediate family have become far more than just subject matter –they’ve become active participants in the creative problem-solving, conceptual development, and the evolution of material and craft of my practice. This exhibition, “Anthology,” marks the first time my work is accompanied by the creative output from members of my family.
In this exhibition, my mother’s botanical illustrations made during her 30 years as a horticulturist, my father’s handmade Windsor chairs, my late grandmother’s self-taught oil paintings, and my great-grandmother’s hand-stitched quilt will be exhibited along with recent pieces of mine based on my mother’s drawings. “Anthology” illustrates the multi-generational aesthetic link amongst a family of makers.”
ORBIT is a series of programming that includes exhibitions, talks, music, field trips and a variety of experiential and educational gatherings for 2018. ORBIT has been carefully designed by Dorman + Torluemke to be inclusive and fun. It is headquartered at the exhibition space of the Chicago agency Media Made Great.
The exhibit will run through July 22.
