MoCP Curatorial Fellow Sophie Haslinger will lead a guided viewing of original works from the MoCP’s permanent collection selected for their incorporation of found imagery. Some artists have become collectors, turning to the waves of images that have already been put out in the world and remixing them into new works of art. This print viewing will look at a selection of works incorporating different kinds of found photography – from vernacular imagery, to images found on the internet and Google Street View – and examine how found images are used as an artistic practice. This session will feature works by artists including Martha Rosler, Curtis Mann, Doug Rickard , Daniel Gordon, Simon Menner, and Penelope Umbrico.
