……a work of art may be understood as a corrective; a metaphoric subversion of a felt deficit; a purposeful installation of something actual; a “real” representation of an impulse to make the world better even if only in the eyes of the maker. So while Baldwin, Eli, Hilshorst, and Stone may contend with theoretical, political, and ideological at a distance, they nonetheless seek accomplishment along a path leading towards change and, perhaps, resolution.
