Join us for a discussion and creative writing workshop celebrating the poetry of Dr. Margaret Burroughs, prolific artist, historian, teacher, writer, activist, and co- founder of The DuSable Museum of African American History.

Led by Poetry Foundation staff member Maggie Queeney, the poetry of Dr. Burroughs, which most often treats issues of race and gender in immediate, powerful, and intimate language, will be read and discussed. In response to archival materials made available for this workshop, participants will compose original work inspired by Dr. Burroughs’ poetry.
