The Living Room Press Photography of Professor Muskrat
The work in this show is a collaboration of life long associates Doug Huston and Professor Muskrat. Having met when Huston was 9 years old, the two have been out of contact for over 5 decades. Recently reacquainting themselves on Facebook, they have been using the Prophessor* Muskrat Facebook page to post their collaborative photography.
The disarmingly simple cell phone photo technique of point-and-shoot was the target method. The physicality of the act of composing and capturing the images live from the TV feels like an odd collision of Tai Chi exercise and a Punch and Judy puppet show performance. Without any computer filters or gimmickry these photos are displayed large and unfiltered – like their subject matter. Low brow politics. High end output. A project that started out silly and simple has warped into something wholly unanticipated.
