I AM A POTTED PALM is an accidental collection of solo performance, objects, writings, and video works, created for the series, IS THIS WHAT YOU WANTED, surrounding issues of self tokenizing and the sanctity of sincerity in identity-based work. Following Acosta’s performance, we will migrate across the street to Beauty Bar at 8:30PM for SALONATHON (http://www.in-time-performance.org/salonathon-in-time/). I AM A POTTED PALM is a two part project – the first durational component will take place on Saturday, February 6, as part of a sound installation by artist Ethan Rose at Regards Gallery (http://regardsgallery.com).

STEPHANIE ACOSTA is a multidisciplinary artist focused on the exploration of the experiential, incorporating concrete objects, ensemble performances and documentary filmmaking as modes of inquiry. By placing the materiality of the ephemeral at the root of her practice, Acosta questions the making of immovable meanings in our manufactured limitations. Acosta currently resides between Chicago and NY, where she works extensively with unseen histories, performance, experimental radio, and film. Acosta can also be found creating with NO ONE IS ANYWHERE, davielshyfilms, Intrinsic Grey Productions and collaborators including Atom-r, Manuel Vason, and Robin Deacon. Most recently she could be found in Paris producing the upcoming The Ladies Almanack, the first feature film based on the writing of Djuna Barnes, Spring 2016, or in Chicago developing the new publication series Travel Logs with Rory Murphy, or in NY developing solo performance and video works for the series Is This What You Wanted, issues of self tokenizing and the sanctity of sincerity in identity work.
