@ Night Club
3325 N. Pulaski Rd., Chicago IL
Opening Saturday, December 12th, from 6PM - 9PM
Closing reception for Thomas Kong / John Neff
Night Club is pleased to present a selection of collages by Thomas Kong and new photographs and objects by John Neff.
Working out of Kim’s Corner Food, his store in Chicago’s Rogers Park neighborhood, Thomas Kong makes collage abstractions using product packaging sourced from the store’s operations. The interior and windows of Kim’s Corner Food are adorned with an ever-changing installation of the artist’s collages. At Night Club, Kong will display a selection of recent and older collages.
John Neff will exhibit newly-printed 2013 photographs depicting Kim’s Corner Food. The exhibition will also include a number of Neff’s recent objects assembled from his domestic detritus – bottles, cans, and other packaging materials.
Thomas Kong is the owner of Kim’s Corner Food, located on West Estes Street in the Rogers Park neighborhood of Chicago. His work was recently exhibited at Pony Club in Portland, Oregon, and will be seen in the upcoming group exhibition Wild Is The Wind at Roman Susan Gallery, Chicago.
John Neff exhibited his photographic work in a 2013 solo exhibition at Chicago’s Renaissance Society. Recent curatorial projects include Robert Buck and Militant Eroticism: the Art+ Positive Archives (with Dan Berger), both at Iceberg Projects, and Making Chances (with Lorelei Stewart) at the University of Illinois at Chicago’s Gallery 400. Neff currently serves the co-director of Ravenswood Elementary School’s Curatorial Practice Program.
