Rob Funderburk

@ Elastic Arts

3429 W Diversey Ave., Chicago IL

Opening Saturday, November 7th, from 7PM - 10PM

On view through Sunday, November 29th

Elastic Arts is pleased to announce an exhibition of prints and drawings by Chicago based artist Rob Funderburk. Funderburk’s practice extends from intimate ink studies and conceptual illustration to large-scale painting, installation and cross-disciplinary performance projects.

A unique component of this exhibition will be a selection of diagrammatic drawings Funderburk produced as a way to understand and process music with cornetist/composer Josh Berman as recent participants in Homeroom’s annual Ten x Ten Project, pairing visual artists with musicians in an ongoing collaborative project. His frenetic gestural drawings were actively complemented by Berman’s musical score, which incorporated Funderburk into the band with amplification of his drawing tools and integration of him as an instrumentalist.

Funderburk has exhibited at venues such as the DePaul University Art Museum, Galerie F, Believe Inn, Indiana University, Open End and AV-Aerie, and been featured in publications from Poetry Magazine, Featherproof Books, Curbside Splendor, Stop Smiling Magazine, THE2NDHAND, Proximity Magazine, Another Chicago Magazine (ACM), Time Out Chicago and the Chicago Tribune, among others.

Elastic Arts works to foster the community of art and culture in Avondale/Logan Square and beyond through developing, hosting, producing, and promoting creative, independent, and local music, performance, and art events. Elastic Art’s visual art program is curated by Jordan Martins.
