Bomba con Buya Live at The Franklin!
In conjunction with Chicago Artists Month (CAM), Bomba con Buya is pleased to announce it’s new video Candela with a video screening and live concert.
Candela is a video collaboration developed by artist-educator team Brenda Torres-Figueroa and Arif Smith in conjunction with the performance ensemble Bomba con Buya. Co-directed by Samuel Reyes and Samuel Vega, the video combines site specific work from Chicago and Ponce, Puerto Rico along with archival footage that urgently directs our attention to various contemporary injustices. Candela aims to connect coordinates found between Puerto Rican and African diasporas while mapping entrenched racial and political violence and protest.
