(An excerpt from “Imagine What the Appeal Might B”)
When you grow up in the Suburbs you have this very strange idea of what the rest of the world looks like. The street you live on is home. All of your friends live in close proximity, but later they live miles apart. A car is given to you at 16 that you describe the color to your friends as “poop brown”. A lake town is the closest thing to vacation. Wildwood is where all the bad kids hang out. A quaint but oddly reckless environment that creates more and more dysfunctional families and teenage girls who wear tiny camisoles to buy liquor from a guy named Tiger that works at the local liquor store we called “The Chink”. I kissed my eighth grade girlfriend on the lips with my eyes open on accident when all her friends were watching, what an embarrassing moment. A few weeks later I got grounded for buying women’s black Levi skinny jeans.
