Sunday Project is excited to announce the opening of Havisham, a group exhibition of artists Andrew Birk, Vabianna Santos, and Lauren Taylor.
The work in this exhibition explores the nebulous relationship between the viewer and the viewed in their simultaneous attempts at finding agency. Who is the seducer and who is being seduced? Who is in the position to reject and who is rejected?
“…if you had taught them, from the dawn of their intelligence, with your utmost energy and might, that there was such a thing as daylight, but that it was made to be their enemy and destroyer, and they must always turn against it, for it had blighted you and would else blight them—if you had done this, and then, for a purpose, had wanted them to take naturally to the daylight and they could not do it…”
