Conrad Bakker is an Associate Professor of Art and MFA Studio Coordinator for the School of Art and Design at the University of Illinois in Urbana Champaign. Bakker’s ongoing series of Untitled Projects engage the careful construction and specific placement of carved and painted objects so as to critically comment upon and make tangible the everyday economies between persons and things and spaces.
Bakker has exhibited his work nationally and internationally, including Tate Modern (London), Galerie Analix Forever (Geneva), the New Museum of Contemporary Art (New York), the Renaissance Society at the University of Chicago (Chicago), Fargfabriken (Stockholm), The Blanton Museum of Art (Austin), Art in General, Artists’ Space, and Apex Art (New York City), Lora Reynolds Gallery (Austin), Contemporary Art Museum Houston, in strangers mailboxes and even on his front lawn.
