THE CONCEPT
How do we define ourselves individually and as a collective? The Society of Illustrators of Chicago (SOIC) explores the attitudes of the academic industry that is duty-bound to locate itself within the complicated landscape of contemporary illustration. The emerging generation of Illustrators at the Illinois Institute of Art, Chicago is embracing and cultivating the shift into a more multi-market approach. The artwork there challenges and engages the viewers in a dialogue of identity that is current comprehensive and fresh.
