Perfect Timing: Recent Work by Nathan Vernau
Open hours: Sundays 11a-3p or by appointment

Perfect Timing is a party for the retinas—pure visual joy. Upon closer inspection, Vernau’s bright colors and friendly forms offer veiled glimpses of deeper, and often time darker personal narratives.

Beneath the balloons and heart-shaped confetti, anger, frustration and the weight of the day-to-day create an undercurrent of malcontent.

Urgent, playful and elegantly composed, the work in Perfect Timing challenges traditional art narrative with methodically cut paper and colored pencil patterning.

Nathan Vernau is an artist living and working in Chicago. He has held solo exhibitions with Robert Bills Contemporary, Offwhite Gallery, and Doppelganger in Chicago, IL. A bit further afield, Vernau has exhibited solo shows with the Kawaura Art Space, Kawaura, Japan, the Madison Public Library and The Project Lodge. He received his MFA from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2009.
