Opening Tuesday, October 27th, from 11am - 12PM
On view through Thursday, November 12th
South Suburban College is pleased to present Playing Pretend, a solo exhibition by Matt Kaufman.
Playing Pretend explores humor and self-discomfort through a series of sculptural self-portraits. These works investigate memories of play and expression throughout childhood and growing up. Intrigued by the mundane, the artist examines the body in conversation with domestic objects and spaces. Juxtaposing abstract figures alongside recognizable objects, their differences are both highlighted and blurred.
This exhibition will remain on display from October 13 through November 12, 2026, with an artist talk on October 27. Please join us in the Sculpture & New Media Gallery from 11am to 12pm, or email jsturtevant@ssc.edu for the virtual attendance link.
The Sculpture & New Media Gallery at South Suburban College is open Monday through Thursday from 10am to 4pm.
