Artist Statement

When I was a kid, imagination didn’t need permission. A blank page could become a spaceship, a kingdom, or a whole new world, and nobody told me it was too big or too bold. Somewhere along the way, most of us learn to shrink that part of ourselves. Endless Imagination is my attempt to bring it back.

This body of work blends the things that have shaped me: my heritage, my love of hip-hop culture, bright bold colors, and vision of who we can become. I want viewers to see people of color as limitless — rooted in history, but not limited by it.

I build my paintings the way I want people to experience them: in layers. Acrylic, airbrush, molding paste, plaster, crystals, wood, words give each piece texture and depth, so there’s always something new to find the closer you look. The discipline I learned as an athlete and in the Navy shows up in the process. The freedom shows up in the ideas.

Above all, I made this work to be fun, uplifting, and inspiring. I hope you leave this show feeling a little lighter, a little prouder, and reminded that your imagination is still yours, and it has no limits.
