Harvesting Hope
@ Lawndale Pop-Up Spot, Chicago Sukkah Design Festival
3615 W Douglas Blvd, Chicago, IL 60623
Opening Sunday, October 11th, from 1PM - 3PM
Harvesting Hope is a family-friendly event featuring faith and lay leaders, including Pastor Reshorna Fitzpatrick from Stone Temple Baptist Church, Pastor Jennie English-Dumont from Bethlehem Evangelical Lutheran Church, and Aidan Kaplan from KAM Isaiah Israel. They will speak from 1:00–1:30 pm, addressing what each faith teaches about environmental stewardship, community food security, restorative justice, and supporting those in need, as well as the impact of their programs on individuals and communities. This program is presented in collaboration with Jewish United Fund’s Jewish Community Relations Council.
Then, 1:30–3:00 pm, it’s time for everyone to get their hands dirty!
Following the speakers, there will be fruit tree planting at 16th and Lawndale (with trees donated by Faith In Place), garden bed weeding and clean-up at Stone Temple Baptist Church, and a seed and bulb exchange (with a seed library provided by the Shedd Aquarium).
Register here so we can ensure that enough planting supplies and materials are available.
