Join us for a special weekend of screenings, conversation, and community as we celebrate the new restoration of A Litany for Survival: The Life and Work of Audre Lorde, directed by Ada Gay Griffin and Michelle Parkerson.
ABOUT THE FILM
A Litany for Survival: The Life and Work of Audre Lorde is an intimate and expansive portrait of legendary Black lesbian poet, writer, teacher, mother, and activist Audre Lorde. Through interviews, archival materials, poetry, and Lorde’s own voice, the documentary traces her life from her childhood in Harlem through her influential work at the intersections of the civil rights, women’s, and lesbian and gay rights movements, as well as her long experience with breast cancer.
This special presentation of the film’s new restoration offers an opportunity to revisit Lorde’s extraordinary life, work, and enduring legacy while gathering in community across generations.
All programming will take place at the Sisters in Cinema Media Center, 2310 E 75th St, Chicago, IL 60649. The Media Arts Center is fully ADA accessible, with a single-floor layout, accessible restrooms, and two ADA seating options in our theater.
