Join H Marsh Schenck for Making Time, a communal workshop as part of the exhibition when i think about time, on September 5, 2026, from 2- 6 p.m. at Compound Yellow. The clock-making workshop explores the social constructs of time and creates a one-of-a-kind clock! Participants will have the opportunity to design, draw, and cut out clock faces from personal photographs, magazines, printed ephemera, and/or found objects, transforming familiar materials into personalized clocks or counting devices.

All ages welcome.
Children 10 and younger will need adult assistance with clock assembly.

What to Expect: The workshop will include a presentation on the exhibition when i think about time along with artists and concepts that were influential to the exhibition. Folx will then have the opportunity to complete an ideation worksheet or dive right into clock making! Towards the end of the workshop, participants will have the opportunity to share their clocks and time counters with each other.

Materials:
What is provided: clock making worksheet, clock parts, cardstock, drawing tools, tape, stencils, and various hand tools.

What to bring: photographs, junk mail, magazines, scrap wood*, old board game boards, notebooks, paper pads, cardboard, books*, semi-flat found objects*, old paintings, anything we can cut or drill a hole into!

*all materials need to be less than ½” thick, preferably no thicker than ¼”

Schedule:
1:00-2:00 PM – self-guided walk through of exhibition (gallery)
2:00-3:00 PM – Presentation: when i think about time, influences and key concepts
3:00-5:00 PM – Ideation worksheet and clock assembly
5:00-6:00 PM – show and tell our clocks
