@ Hyde Park Art Center
5020 South Cornell Ave, Chicago, IL 60615
Opening Thursday, August 27th, from 6PM - 7PM
The exhibition Jeff Carter: Singer Pavilion Project explores the history and legacy of the Singer Pavilion last remaining building from the Michael Reese Memorial Hospital through multimedia artworks by Carter. The hospital closed in 2009 and the 48 acre campus was demolished between 2009-2013. Join artists Jeff Carter, Danielle DeGrasse Alston, and Cristina Garduño Freeman and urban geographer Dr. Winifred Curran as they reflect on the legacy of abandoned mega sites, while also considering complex histories of investment and disinvestment in the city.
