Join us at Mana Contemporary for a performance by artist Camila Arévalo and panel discussion with scholar Yelaine Rodriguez as part of programming for Glimmers: Currents of Illuminations.
Performance and Panel Schedule:
1pm – Performance by Camila Arévalo – 2nd Floor
3pm – Panel Discussion with Yelaine Rodriguez – 5th Floor
Camila Arévalo will present an expansion of their current body of work that uses the dynamics between horses, men, and animals—-please do not feed the men.
Yelaine Rodriguez will be in conversation with Glimmer’s curator Xavier Robles Armas on performance, image-making, and video art practices.
ASL interpreter available for the panel discussion.
About Glimmers: Currents of Illuminations
Glimmers: Currents of Illuminations is a circuit program of performance, panel, and video screening spotlighting Latine and LatAm contemporary art practices during Chicago’s art fair week. Curated by Xavier Robles Armas and organized by Chuquimarca, Glimmers converges voices from Los Angeles, New York, and Chicago to culminate a weekend that presents performance and video art practices that are shimmering in critical brilliance.
Glimmers initiates Saturday (04/11) afternoon at Mana Contemporary with a performance by artist Camila Arévalo and panel discussion with scholar Yelaine Rodriguez. Saturday’s evening event will be at The California Clipper featuring performances by Sebastian Hernandez and Ále ‘Celeste’ Campos. Glimmers concludes on Sunday (04/12) at ACRE Projects with an all-day video screening featuring Angel Lartigue, Marcos Serafim, Koyoltzintli, Angelina Ruiz, Jesús Hilario-Reyes, Victoria Martinez, Roxana Barba, and Isaac Vazquez.
Glimmers is supported by Ignite Fund, EXPO Chicago, Mana Contemporary, Monira Foundation, ACRE Projects, The California Clipper, and Depaul Art Museum.
