Opening Thursday, November 6th, from 6PM - 8PM
On view through Thursday, December 4th
The third installment of the Seerveld Gallery 25’-26’ Lecture Series welcomes artist Makayla Lindsay, followed by the opening reception of her exhibition What Is, What Ain’t at Trinity’s Seerveld Gallery.
The Seerveld Gallery is a part of Trinity Christian College’s Art and Design Department, located in the college’s Art and Communication Center. The department invites a number of professional artists to exhibit in its gallery each year, in addition to a student thesis exhibition in the spring. Enjoyed by Trinity’s community and the wider public, the Seerveld Gallery has been home to the work of artists in Chicagoland and beyond for over a decade.
“Makayla Lindsay is an artist living and working in Chicago, IL. Her practice is grounded in improvisational and observational gestures that explore our spatial and social relationship to the built environment. Deriving from traditional ceramics, Lindsay crafts arrangements from found and made objects. Then, turning towards language – in the form of prose and scores – she extends the potentiality and functionality of these sculptural arrangements into time-based works. Within these activations, the duration becomes the center of concern, challenging the role of the audience in conventional performance-based settings. Lindsay received her MFA with a full-merit scholarship from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, where she was a recipient of the Municipal Art League Fellowship upon graduating.” https://www.makaylalindsay.com/about
