On the occasion of her solo exhibition, Glacial Landscapes, Hildur Ásgeirsdóttir Jónsson will be in conversation with Ian Berry (Dayton Director of The Frances Young Tang Teaching Museum and Art Gallery) at 1pm. This event will be seated, with brunch snacks and beverages served beforehand at 12pm on the patio, weather permitting.
HILDUR ÁSGEIRSDÓTTIR JÓNSSON (American, b. 1963 in Reykjavík, Iceland) lives and works between Reykjavík, Iceland, and Cleveland, OH. She received an MFA in 1995, and a BFA in 1991 from Kent State University. Solo exhibitions include ANDREW RAFACZ (Chicago, IL), Kent State University (Kent, OH), Tibor de Nagy Gallery (New York, NY), The Bechtler Museum of Modern Art (Charlotte, NC), Abattoir Gallery (Cleveland, OH), Frederic R.Weisman Museum of Art (Malibu,CA), Hafnarborg (Hafnarfjörður, Iceland), and Reykjavík Art Museum (Reykjavik, Iceland). Group exhibitions include Wasserman Projects (Detroit, MI), Tibor de Nagy (Miami Beach, FL), Scandinavian House (New York, NY), Uppsala Konstmuseum (Uppsala, Sweden), Kent State University (Kent, OH), Arkansas Museum of Fine Arts (Little Rock, AK), Central Museum of Textile (Lodz, Poland), and The Rose Art Museum (curated by Katy Siegel) at Brandeis University (Waltham, MA). Jónsson is co-represented by ANDREW RAFACZ (Chicago, IL), Tibor de Nagy Gallery (New York, NY), and Abattoir Gallery (Cleveland, OH). She has been written about in NewCity Art, The New York Times, Hyperallergic, SCAN Magazine, The Plain Dealer, Akron Beacon Journal, and The New Yorker, amongst many others. Her work is included in numerous private and public collections.
