Zines of Care: A DIY Workshop
@ Woman Made Gallery
1332 S Halsted St, Chicago, IL 60607
Opening Sunday, August 10th, from 11AM - 1:30PM
Join Cynthia E. Hanifin of Zine Club Chicago for a hands-on workshop where you’ll create zines about the ways we care for others in dialogue with the works in Woman Made Gallery’s current exhibition, Acts of Care: Nurturing the Present, Shaping the Future. Whether you’re new to zines or already an enthusiast, you’ll explore some unique zine-folding methods to enhance your words and images!
No prior experience is needed—just bring your creativity! Each participant will leave with their own handmade zine.
As part of the workshop, participants will be invited to reflect on personal experiences of giving and receiving care. Through guided prompts—like “What does care look like in your daily life?” and “Who has shown up for you in quiet or unexpected ways?”—you’ll explore the many forms care can take and translate your reflections into a one-of-a-kind zine.
