Home is an idea with sharp specificity that often sits just out of reach. ‘I’ll Be Home Soon’ brings together three artists from different backgrounds, interests, and intentions to sift through the complexities and fluidity of the term “home.” Tapestries use weaving to rebuild and search for home in the face of grief; Sculptural installation meticulously considers the signifier of home within the importance of memory, moving, and diaspora; Selected texts, reconfigured, investigate the queerness inherent in homes affected by displacement through the work of Zarina Hashmi.
Held at CRAFT NITE, a queer exhibition and event space founded on a history of queer and feminist craft circles, ‘I’ll Be Home Soon’ emphasizes the importance of queer frameworks of home within varying backgrounds and contexts.
