Hear from two of the most influential painters working today. For this intimate in-gallery talk, longtime friends and painters Amy Sillman and Rebecca Morris discuss select works in the exhibition Rebecca Morris: 2001–2022, a 21-year survey of the artist best known for her large-scale works and her commitment to finding new ways forward for the constantly evolving field of painting.

Join both artists in The Commons for a book signing after the talk. Copies of the Rebecca Morris: 2001-2022 catalog and Amy Sillman’s Faux Pas and Contemporary Art Series are available for purchase before and after the talk.

About the Speaker

Amy Sillman (b. 1955, Detroit) has lived and worked in New York City since 1975. Sillman is widely known as a painter whose vigorous intuitive/analytical studio practice engages both formal and conceptual issues in and outside of painting. Working across drawing, printmaking, and animation, she embeds painting shows with adjacent ideas and forms, such as zines, handmade iPhone animations, and writing. Sillman has taught and lectured widely, curated exhibitions, and in 2020 a book of her writing and drawings, Faux Pas, was published by After 8 Books in Paris. Her work has been exhibited widely in the USA and Europe, including participation in the 2022 Venice Biennale. She is represented by Gladstone Gallery New York.
