In “Go Figure,” Melanie P. Brown and Nancy Pirri come together to present a lively exhibition that showcases the interplay between 2D and 3D mediums. Witness their artistic brilliance as they ingeniously explore representations of the human body. Through their art, both artists playfully engage with the concept of the body, resulting in a visually stunning and intellectually stimulating display.
Melanie P. Brown is a renowned exhibiting painter and dedicated teaching artist based in Chicago, IL, with artistic roots in Colrain, Mass., and Tulsa, OK. Her artistic journey has led her to collaborate with talented individuals such as Ryan Ingebritsen, Jeff Yang, Eric Mahle, and the Ursa Ensemble, where she has mesmerized audiences with her live painting performances. You can regularly find her creating live art during concerts at Fulton Street Collective. With 19 years of experience as a teacher, Melanie has inspired countless children and adults of all ages in the Chicago art scene. She holds a BA from Knox College in Galesburg, IL, and an MFA in Painting from The American University in Washington, DC.
Nancy Pirri is a dedicated working artist hailing from Brooklyn, NY, and now based in Chicago, IL, with a focus on creating mesmerizing ceramic figures. She honed her craft while studying studio art at the University of Iowa, where she received her B.A. Her exceptional talent has earned her representation in prestigious galleries such as Blue Sky Gallery in Santa Fe, NM, Alma Art & Interiors in Chicago, Acquisitions of Fine Art in Hinsdale, IL, and Inner Haven Gallery in Grayslake, IL. Nancy’s creative sanctuary is located at Lillstreet Studios, 4401 N. Ravenswood, 2nd Floor.
