DiscarDisco: Rags to Riches The WasteShed’s Trash Fashion Show Fundraiser
@ Chicago Athletic Association
12 S Michigan Ave, Chicago, IL 60603
Opening Saturday, April 15th, from 6PM - 10PM
DiscarDisco, a fabulous fashion show competition, is The WasteShed’s major annual fundraiser. This event showcases the wearable post-consumer creations of artists and designers from Chicagoland area. Contestants design and create runway looks made entirely from discarded materials, or ‘trash,’ showing off their couture skills by transforming unwanted stuff into wearable works of art.
Contestant designers have just 5 weeks to design and create their runway looks made from Designer Mystery Boxes -a box of randomized fabric, notions and bits sourced from The WasteShed’s stores.
DiscarDisco is a sustainable sartorial soiree, a detritus dance party, and a conscientious community event, featuring a live runway show, dancing, crafting, photobooth, silent auction and raffle that is simultaneously live-streamed and produced into a video special.
This year, The WasteShed is thrilled to announce our venue sponsorship by the Chicago Athletic Association. Our show will be held in their illustrious, restored World’s Fair era ballroom overlooking Millennium Park and Michigan Ave on April 15th, 2023.
General Admission will include standing room and first come first serve seating, appetizers and a cash bar.
VIP admission includes front row reserved runway seating, access to VIP lounge backstage in private ballroom, 2 hour VIP satellite open bar, and appetizers.
