Every day, and in every room of the Nickerson Mansion, we find inspiration in the breath-taking complexity of its craftsmanship. This workshop is part of an ongoing series of programs that seeks to enhance our visitors’ connection to the craft of the Mansion by giving them the tools to become a maker themselves.
In this beginner’s workshop, you’ll learn how to create your own stunning single signature (section) book. With a beautiful selection of papers at your disposal, artist Lesa Dowd will show you both the mechanics and the artistry of bookbinding. By workshop’s end, you will leave with your very own simple book to take home.
There is a $25 supplies fee that includes papers, covering materials, and thread. A recommended tool list will be provided prior to the class and some tools will be available for borrow.
No prior bookbinding experience is required to participate.
This event is for ages 18 and over.
About the Artist:

Lesa left the library world in 2022 to launch her own bookbinding and conservation practice and to spend more time tending her vegetables and flowers.
