The Evanston Art Center (EAC) is proud to present a new exhibition, “Better Angels”, featuring works by Adria Arch.

“Better Angels” is a phrase in Abraham Lincoln’s inaugural speech calling us to be our most moral selves. With bold, flat color and convoluted forms, the sculptural installation “Better Angels” hovers overhead, drawing our attention upwards to a higher plane. The pieces float, suspended above our heads, intertwining like vines or Renaissance winged babies, eliciting mirth and joy.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Adria Arch is a multi-media artist living in the Boston area.

Most recently, Arch’s installations have been exhibited at Boston Sculptors Gallery, Brattleboro Art Museum in Vermont and at the Danforth Museum in Framingham, MA. In 2019 her work was featured at the Fitchburg Art Museum, and in 2020 at the Cahoon Museum of American Art. She has been awarded residencies at Vermont Studio Center, Virginia Center for the Creative Arts, Sanskriti Foundation in Delhi. Her work is included in many private and public collections including the DeCordova Sculpture Park and Museum, Fidelity Corporation, and the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston.

“Better Angels” will be on display in the Evanston Art Center’s Second Floor Atrium from January 7 – February 12, 2023, with an opening reception on Sunday, January 8, from 1-4pm. The opening reception for “Experimental”, an exhibition featuring works by David Anthony Geary, will also take place at this time. The reception will feature an artist talk with Adria Arch from 2:30-3:00pm and an artist talk with David Anthony Geary from 3:10-3:40pm. The exhibition, opening reception and artist talks are free and open to the public.
