KENOSHA, Wis. – Carthage College presents the V Crushable art exhibit. Noah Kasiani’s sculptures are a testament to high fashion. Kelle Reaves’ paintings are created from a deep fascination with the intent to clear the mind. The opening reception for the V Crushable art exhibit will be on Thursday, February 10, from 3:30 to 6:30p. m.
V Crushable is a selection of sculptures and paintings created by Noah Kashiani and Kelly Reaves. Kashiani’s sculptures are crafted from secondhand clothing collected from thrift stores throughout Chicago. His current works are soft objects, hardened through a crystallization process.The materials pay respect to objects of a low value, addressing the significance of materialism and alluding to the relentless desire generated by a late-stage capitalism. Kelly Reaves’ paintings materialize through a hyperactive inner dialog and a fascination in the natural world. The paintings are process-driven, a culmination of meditation, simulating and warping three-dimensional space. V Crushable is on exhibit at the H. F. Johnson Gallery from Tuesday, February 8 to Friday, March 11, 2022. The gallery is open from noon to 5 p.m. every Tuesday through Friday. Extended hours are available on Thursdays from 5-8pm. Additionally, the gallery will be open Saturdays from 1-4pm. All art exhibits are free and open to the public.
Kelly Reaves is an artist, writer, musician, and art handler who lives and works in Chicago. Reaves earned her master’s and bachelor’s degree at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Her work has been displayed across the U.S., most recently in Tight as Leather at the Parallelogram Gallery in Tampa, Florida, and Torrential Hag at the Cleaner Gallery and Projects in Chicago, Illinois. Noah Kashiani is a sculptor who lives and works in Chicago. He earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Mount Union and his MFA from Northern Illinois University. Kashiani’s work was most recently displayed in the group exhibitions, Short Term Infinity at Boccara Art in Miami, Florida and In the Wake of Slumber at Paradice Palase in Brooklyn, New York.
